Affiliate disclosure
How this site makes money, in plain English, including the parts that are less flattering.
The required statement, first
As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. Bump & Bolster participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.
What that means for you
If you click a product link on this site and buy something, Amazon pays us a small percentage of the sale. You pay exactly the same price — the commission comes out of Amazon’s margin, not out of your pocket, and nothing is added to your total for having arrived here.
You are never obliged to use our links. If you would rather search Amazon directly, the pages here are just as useful.
Amazon is currently our only retailer
It is worth saying this plainly rather than implying a breadth we do not have. Every product link on this site goes to Amazon. We are not currently in any other affiliate program relevant to maternity or postpartum products, so there are no CJ, Awin or Impact links anywhere on the site, and no brand-direct commission arrangements.
If that changes, this page changes with it, and the only reason we would add another retailer is that it was a better option for the reader — a better price, better stock, or a better warranty.
How the links work technically
Product links on this site point at a path on our own domain — /go/amazon — which then redirects you to Amazon with our tracking ID attached. There is exactly one place in the site’s code where that tracking ID appears, which is how we make sure it is correct on every page rather than right on some and missing on others.
Our Amazon Associates tracking ID is jr-bumpbolster-20. The redirect is a temporary one, it is excluded from search engine crawling, and it sets no cookie of its own. Every outbound commercial link carries rel="sponsored nofollow", which is how we tell search engines these are paid links.
Why there are no prices on this site
You will notice that every price slot on Bump & Bolster reads “Check price on Amazon” rather than showing a number. That is deliberate, and it is for a simple reason: we do not hold live price data.
A price printed on a review page is out of date within a day. Showing you a number we cannot verify would be a false claim, and the fact that it is a convenient false claim does not make it better. So the price lives where it is authoritative — on Amazon — and the link takes you there.
The site is built so that if we do get live, licensed price data in future, the same slots will show a real figure with the date it was checked beside it. Until then they say what we actually know.
What commission does not buy
- It does not buy a ranking. Products are not ordered by what they pay. Where a cheaper option is the better answer, it goes first.
- It does not buy a good review. The cons list on every product is real, and “skip it if” is on every single pick for a reason.
- It does not buy inclusion. No brand has approached us, and no brand has a route onto this site other than being a sensible answer to a reader’s problem.
- It does not fund product samples. We do not receive free products, which is also why we do not claim to have tested anything — see how we pick.
Where disclosure appears
On every page that carries a buy link, the disclosure appears once, above the first link, plus an #ad marker beneath each buy button. It is deliberately not repeated after every product: repetition reads as a template rather than as disclosure, and it is the clearest shared tell of the content farms competing for these searches.
