Editorial policy

The rules this site runs on, written down so you can hold us to them.

Independence

No advertiser, brand, retailer or affiliate network has any influence over what appears on this site, in what order, or with what verdict. Specifically:

  • No brand can pay to appear, to rank higher, or to have a con removed.
  • We do not accept free products in exchange for coverage, and we do not accept sponsored posts.
  • Products are not ranked by commission rate. Where the cheaper option is the better answer, it goes first.
  • Nobody outside this site sees a page before it publishes. There is no brand review step.

The site is funded entirely by Amazon Associates commission, which is set out in full on the affiliate disclosure page.

Authorship

Every article, comparison, guide and product page on this site is written by Selena H., and no content is published under any other byline. There is no contributor pool, no ghostwritten content and no “editorial team” attribution standing in for a person.

The author bio claims no medical, nursing, midwifery, lactation, physiotherapy or fitness credential, because none exists. There is no “reviewed by” line on this site either: adding one without a named, real reviewer would be the same lie in a different place.

Sourcing standard

No clinical, physiological, statistical or safety claim appears on this site without a named, linked authority. Accepted sources, in priority order:

  1. Professional bodies and public health services — ACOG, the NHS, the RCOG, the CDC, MedlinePlus, March of Dimes, La Leche League International.
  2. Peer-reviewed research, cited by title and journal and linked to PubMed or the DOI.
  3. Manufacturer specification sheets — for product specifications only, never for a clinical claim.
  4. Aggregate buyer reports — for comfort, fit, sizing and durability only, and always attributed as what buyers report rather than as our own finding.

Never acceptable as a source:

  • Another affiliate roundup. This is how unsourced figures propagate through a whole category.
  • Reddit or a forum thread, for any clinical claim. Forums can tell us which products to go and research; they cannot establish a fact about your body.
  • A brand’s own marketing copy, for any health claim.
  • Our own unsupported assertion.

We load every URL before citing it, cite on the claim itself rather than in an unanchored list, and re-verify every cited link twice a year to catch rot.

Claims we will not make

Because this site researches products rather than testing them, the following never appear here: “we tested”, “field-tested”, “lab-tested”, “hands-on”, “I wore”, “after three months of use”, or any phrasing implying first-hand use. Nor do we claim a price check, because we hold no live price data.

We also publish no scarcity or urgency claims — no “only four left”, no countdowns, no “selling fast”. We have no stock data, so any such claim would be invented.

The method behind what we do claim is on how we pick.

Corrections

If you find an error, email contact@bumpandbolster.com or use the contact form. Here is what happens:

  1. We check the claim against the source.
  2. If it is wrong, it is corrected in place rather than quietly deleted, and the page’s “last reviewed” date is updated.
  3. Where the error changed the substance of a recommendation, the correction is noted on the page rather than just silently fixed.
  4. If a product has been discontinued or a listing has gone dead, it is replaced within the quarter and never left behind a working link.

Review cadence

  • Quarterly: every page with search impressions is reviewed — products confirmed as still sold, pick list refreshed, and the visible review date updated only if something actually changed.
  • Twice yearly: every cited authority URL is re-loaded to confirm it still resolves and still says what we quoted.
  • Immediately: if a clinical guideline changes, every affected page is updated without waiting for the quarterly cycle. This is the one trigger that does not queue.

The visible “last reviewed” line always matches the date in the page’s structured data. A date that moves without a change is a small lie that costs nothing to avoid.

This is not medical advice

Nothing on this site is medical advice, and no page diagnoses anything. Talk to your midwife, OB or GP about your own symptoms. Where a symptom warrants care — severe or sudden pain, bleeding, fever, regular contractions before 37 weeks, reduced movements, a headache with visual changes — the page says to contact your provider before it mentions any product, and that ordering is deliberate.
